“The studio is one big ice cream factory,” exclaims Gaby Basora, the designer behind Tucker. “Fabric and prints everywhere. Baby boys playing hide and seek under remnants.”

No surprise, when Tucker discontinues one of these prints, people react as though their favorite flavor of ice cream was taken out of production. “We receive so many e-mails and calls about prints that got away,” recalls the designer. “Describing dreams of prints and sleepless nights.” Starting Nov. 26, Tucker is re-releasing 20 vintage styles. And indeed, each floral frock and leopard blouse is made with a nostalgic curiosity that speaks to a distinct type of person.

“I was a little girl on the Paris metro listening to Berlin in the ’80s. The grid of the metro map, the romance of a French woman shaking out a carpet in a crisp house dress,” says Basora, referring to a red and pink roses number called Paris Metro Ride. The floral shades of blue, gray and cream in A la Fenetre is an ode to Miroslav Tichy’s watercolor-like photography.

And the list goes on from Southern Palace to Mesi’s Dancing Print in 10 different styles with an ever-evolving narrative to fit each imaginative woman it meets. “If fashion asks for fantasy, Tucker can deliver, but it is up to you to make it your own.” -- By New York Times
